I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Jack: Grime and Punishment, and so was happy to pick up this book for our Retro Reads. I wasn’t disappointed!

Eddie was adorable with the way he dressed up to impress his niece’s teacher. Equally adorable was the way he was clueless to said teacher’s flirtations with him. When they finally connect there are some roadblocks.

I really liked how this book tackled the disability dyslexia can be and how Eddie overcame it. That coupled with Andrew’s Dad’s problem, there were some serious conditions talked about and dealt with. It didn’t get overwhelming, though it did tug at the heartstrings at times.

Eddie’s family is great as is the crew at The Brothers Grime. The set up for a book 3 is there, though at the time of this review, it has not been heard about.

If you enjoyed the first book, you’ll be sure to enjoy this one. If you haven’t read the first book, you can still read this without being too lost, though I recommend reading book one as it was good too!
