What Evolution Is by Ernst W. Mayr, Jared Diamond

The title says it all, "What Evolution Is." Really, you can't have an opinion (especially a negative one) if you don't have a clue what it is that you are talking about. This book presents the essentials of what evolution is: there is no dumbing down nor is there gratuitous detail. As serious books do, this book provides references in the text and an extensive bibliography. Highest recommendation.
