“When goodness removes itself, the space it occupied corrodes and becomes evil”

The first thing that should be said is that this isn’t for younger audiences, please don’t let the musical cover fool you.
This was of course what inspired the musical but it really gets into the gritty parts.

Animal abuse and cruelty, dictatorship, racism, sex clubs and death: these topics only scratch the surface of the issues this book covers, and at just under 500 pages this is one hell of a read. I kept laughing, crying, and felt a whole rollercoaster of emotion!

This book isn’t for everyone, but I loved it; I thought it handled all the dark topics well and it wasn’t scared to confront them.
In fact I had about 100 pages left when I ordered the other three and once I’ve read all the books for my course I am so excited to dive into them! 💚

I do wish there were more scenes between Elphaba and Glinda, but what we did get were delightful, and it was wonderful to be able to learn more about the other characters in this world, including Boq and Fiyero’s family, I can’t wait to learn more about them and the land of Oz in the next three as the story unravels even more no doubt.
