This story follows Wilder and Delilah. Nine years ago, they were connected through a mental health support line—Delilah as a volunteer who took the time to listen to Wilder and his struggles. That experience left a lasting impression on him. But what happens when she stops volunteering and you later discover she’s dating your twin brother? Now, nine years later, both are single, friends, and there’s a fiery tension brewing between them.
This was a great storyline and an enjoyable audiobook to listen to. The prologue set the tone for the book, hit you with the emotions, and then jumped forward to the present. You could feel the tension between them and the flirty, fiery banter, which I really liked. It’s more character-driven, but since there was a lot of depth, I enjoyed that aspect. The spice was fantastic and felt intimate.
Just a couple of things: I guessed the suspense plot—the culprits and their motives—before the reveals. I also wish we got a bit more backstory on Wilder and what happened to him when he was younger, from his perspective. I know there were references to it in the previous book, but I think it was more necessary here, since this is his story to tell.
That said, I did enjoy these two together, which made it a really enjoyable read.
