A really interesting twisted magical version of the Hunger Games.

If you take the Hunger Games, add magic, and make it so you’re not sure who to root for, you’ve got this book.

This was a fun twist on the sub-genre and kept you on your toes as you aren’t sure who is right and wrong and who is good or bad. Those you think are evil might not be and those who are good might not be either. The twisting alliances and shades of gray in everyone’s motivation and personalities was interesting.

I did feel like things slowed down in the middle and the beginning took a minute to get rolling but the end had me hooked and sets up an absolute disaster for our characters to face in the sequel.
