After reading the summary, I was sure I wouldn't finish the book, as the topic itself didn’t seem very interesting to me. I love reading about England, but a story about the memories and everyday life of a butler didn’t seem particularly captivating. However, after closing it on the last page, I don’t regret reading it. Thanks to Kazuo Ishiguro, I realized that with talent and depth, it’s possible to write compellingly about anything - even about a man doing the same job in the same house.
Perhaps in the modern world, where individualism and personal interests have long prevailed, it's hard to understand what true dedication to one’s work really means. The book is written very skillfully and contains much hidden meaning - but only for those who know how to read between the lines. The thought comes to mind: all genius is simple. It’s so unlike anything I’ve ever read that I now want to explore the author’s other books in more detail.
