I love a good toxic relationship, but this was not well developed. I didn't understand any of the characters motivations the entire way through. The climax included some really gross stuff that was not fully discussed. I love unlikeable characters, but Elle did not feel like an actual person. Overall this novel needed WAY more development. The ideas are there, but it fell flat and relied too heavily on tropes.
