Hands down, one of the best books I’ve read. Such a beautiful story about a young black man trying to survive under the pressures of his father’s legacy while creating his own for his children. Maverick Carter is such a strong man in The Hate U Give and I loved getting to see him as a teenager navigating life and all that is thrown at him. Angie Thomas has done it again. The writing style is so on point with Maverick’s character that I felt as though I was right along side him for all the ups and downs.
