After feeling disappointed after reading Persepolis I decided to go ahead and try the second book just to see if it got any better. While the flow of the story improved the actual storyline did not. Marjane makes mistake after mistake in this part of her life without seeming to learn anything from those mistakes. Her parents do everything for her and it seems to have made Marjane rather spoiled. She makes herself out to be a selfish girl trying to find her place in the world and there was seemingly no actual point to the book.
I also had a hard time with her choice of art style, it says that she studied art/graphic design yet her art was quite terrible and not interesting to look at.
Unfortunately the humor in this book was also a let down, nothing made me laugh, rather any jokes in the novel made me feel bad for her life or just didn’t seem to fit with anything else going on.
