Preppy: The Life & Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part Two by T.M. Frazier
5.0
4.5 Stars
We pick up right where we left off. Preppy is trying to come out of his coma. When he finally awakens things are different and he's missed out on a lot. Even though Preppy is awake he's just going through the motions and something is missing. And that missing piece is Dre.
Dre is clean and sober and trying to help her father out after everything he's done for her. After some doubts and insecurity they reconnect but Preppy is still having trouble dealing with his ordeal. Preppy refuses to talk or even think about what he went through. He's living but he's not alive.
This book also showed a different side of Preppy. I'm used to the comedic relief he provided in King. Now we see a broken down and fragile version of Samuel Clearwater. We also witness Dre this time around fixing him after he saved her in their first encounter. I loved how they are both able to heal and save each other.
What I also loved about this book was the growth of the characters. Preppy and Dee have both through some horrible stuff and their characters matured in this story. I'm a big fan of character growth and Frazier nailed it! I must say that ending just about killed me! I now see why they call you the Evil Ginger! I need the final book and I need it yesterday!!!
