This book far surpassed my expectations (and I was already so excited!) And I couldn't rate anything but 5⭐. I loved the Lady of Darkness series but this was something else. I did not want to put it down and stayed up late just to keep reading it.
I think I felt every single emotion at one point, the writing was so emotive and descriptive throughout.
It is set in a modern world, with Fae and all sorts of other creatures. Exactly the sort of book I love. The lore and magic system is different and fascinating. It is in the same universe as Lady of Darkness so would recommend reading that first as the little tidbits/links you see relating to that are great. Although it could be understood without.

Both the MCs were extremely complex people who had their own secrets. Melissa expertly navigated the many different ways people deal with trama and mental health issues. All the characters had flaws that were explored in depth. There was definitely a journey and I can't wait to see how the character growth continues throughout the series. Currently I both love and hate Theon, and love Tessa, Luka and Axel. All the other characters are intriguing and I have so many questions I can't wait to find out the answers to in later books!
