Spider-Verse by Dan Slott

4.0

I read this as it was on my comic book club's to-read list.

This is a monster collection that you're unlikely to get through in one sitting.

Initial thoughts on Spiderverse:
1) Someone was a biiiiiig spider lore fan and wanted to wink at all of it; or
2) one of the writers was an arachnophobe and was like "Fine. But I'm smushing as many spiders as possible"; or
3) one of the writers was like "Fine, but I'm adding vampires. Vampires are cool."

At first I dreaded each time I sat down to continue reading this, as some very good people meet horrible ends - not the quippy fun I was expecting. I suppose that's one way to prune the various incarnations from future comic books! But ultimately I did enjoy this, as I got a happy-ish ending.
