Beyond the Wand by Tom Felton
4.0

Confession: I have only read 2 of the Harry Potter books and seen 1 of the movies. Yet, I did it again - picked up a memoir written by an actor about whom I knew only a little because I wanted to know what "life" is like behind the curtains, costumes, etc. And, once again, I'm glad I did it.
The tone of Tom Felton's memoir is very casual/conversational. I like being told stories about past escapades, so that was fun. I also got a lot of insight on the different ways movies are made, depending on who is in charge, budget, etc., which was more of what I was looking for anyway. I did not expect the serious tone of the book at the end. After the lightheartedness of the first 7/8 of the story, this came as a huge surprise. But, in spite of the fact that I realize the serious portion may have been hard to reveal to a world of unknown readers and even harder to live through, I think I'm glad Felton's memoir wasn't all pranks and accolades and entertainment, because real life isn't either.
