The Story of Mr Sommer by Michael Hofmann, Patrick Süskind, Jean-Jacques Sempé

4.0

Two things drew me to this book: the illustrations, and the fact that it was written by Patrick Süskind. I've read "Perfume" and equally love and am horrified by that novel, so finding a novel by Süskind with beautiful, dream-like illustrations I felt intrigued. I think the illustrations were what I enjoyed most about the novel;
SpoilerI wish we were told why Mr Sommer went on his walks the way he did. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like open-ended endings, or questions left hanging in the air.
