Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig
5.0

First of all, I really, really, really recommend this book to everyone who lives with depression and/or has friends/loved ones/family/coworkers/whoever who does. It might give you insight in how they/you feel and maybe some pointers on how to help/what helps. It might not help, though, because as Matt Haig states at the very beginning and throughout the book - depression is different for everyone and everyone reacts differently to it and something that might help Person A might not help with Person B or might make it even worse for Person C. But, it might help. A bit. And that's a lot.

I don't agree with every opinion Matt Haig has in this book but that doesn't matter. What matters is, that he gives an short, compact overview about someone (himself) living with depression and an anxiety disorder and how it felt and how it impacted his life and how it got better for him.

Some of what he said really resonated with me. A lot. And gave me thinky thoughts and so on.

There have also been some very beautiful metaphors and general language, like: "Your mind is a galaxy. More dark than light. But the light makes it worthwile. [...] You are moving through that galaxy. Wait for the stars."

Simply beautiful...
