The Last Dance of the Debutante
by Julia Kelly
Julia Kelly writes historical fiction featuring women and the challenges they face. This book is more than a fictional social history of 1958 London, but an account of the changing world for women after the war years. Lily is a debutante, acceding to the desires of her mother and grandmother. More a bookworm than a socialite, Lily goes along but maintains some doubts, particularly when she falls in with the wrong person, the selfish Leana. As Lily finds true friends in the group she calls the Imperfects, she discovers details about her family that upends her view of everything. I recommend this book and thank Edelweiss for the opportunity.
