The Cairo Curse
by Pepper Basham
First off: again, why didn't I discover this author before I did. Her books are a complete delight to read.
I finally got my copy and couldn't wait to read it. I had to evacuate my town...bad train accident in my little town of East Palestine Ohio....and this was one of the books I grabbed when I sneaked past the road closed sign after work last night to pack to go to my parent's house
The Mistletoe Countess was a masterful piece of fiction, but I do believe our talented author has surpassed that with The Cairo Curse.
Or maybe it's just the fact that I know the characters already.
Nah. This is even better than the MC.
The Cairo Curse is the perfect blend of humor, suspense, and romance. Basham has written an awesome read that I could not put down. Awesome is not an exaggeration.
The plot was great, and there was plenty of nefarious things going on. (Nefarious is a favorite word of the heroine's)
I didn't know who the bad guys were, and there were so many twists and turns that I didn't have much luck figuring that out.
Freddy and Grace are such delightful and likable characters. So opposite each other, yet they made a great hero and heroine. And her hilarious and often outlandish comments and ideas are met with such amusing reactions from him and his valet.
Speaking of which...we find out his first name and an idea of his age. I thought his first name was Elliot, and had him pictured as somewhat older. At least as I remember.
But nope. Elliot is his last name. His first is....well, read the book! And he is definitely a younger guy, probably around Freddy's age. It was cool to have him as more of a central character, and cool where his story was going.
Seriously. Awesome book. Read it. But read the Mistletoe Countess first.
