This was such an enjoyable read, I devoured it in one day despite having to work an 8 hour shift.

We've all watched people crash and burn online as the internet grabs its collective pitchforks and riots against some perceived wrongdoing. We may have even participated in the take down of a bad guy online. But how often do we think of those people once they've been thoroughly shamed, and in many cases destroyed?

Ronson revisits some of the major public shamings of our time. I vividly remembered most of these cases once they were brought up, but can promise that I would never have thought of these people again if it weren't for this book. While we've all moved on, they are still reeling from the effects of having the entire internet band together against them.

An interesting investigation into the history of public shaming, the eventual repeal of the practice, and the resurgence brought about as the result of the collective power of an outraged internet populace, this book is a quick and fascinating read about a phenomenon we've all seen and most likely have taken part of.
