Caraval by Stephanie Garber

5.0

There are really few things that one can say about Caraval. The book itself was written to be read in a sitting, the plot is fast-paced, the romance completely hypnotizing and the intrigue one of the best I have ever seen in YA novels.

And yes, the book does have its predictable moments as it resembles more of a fairytale than a YA novel sometimes, part because of Scarlett's character being treated as one out of a fairytale, part because of Caraval's magic.

Nevertheless, I'm truly in awe of this story, the execution of the plot, the high stakes throughout, and narration that really had you on the edge of your seat.

I found my new obsession after Sarah J. Maas and this Stephanie Garber's fiction. You'll ask me about the many cliches used and I'll reply yes, there were, but don't think for a minute that an author who rewrites them and twists them, isn't one deserving congratulation.

If you want to be shattered by a new love story, lush worldbuilding, strong imagery, an intense character voice, and a deadly game inspired by fairytale magic, then this is your book.
