Saving Jake by Sharon Sala

5.0

CW + TW: Military, suicide, depression, death, death of a loved one

There were lots of tears for this one.

Jacob is coming back to Blessings, Georgia with no idea what to do next, no plans, no job, or much of anything else. He wasn't expecting any friendships to happen or anyone to talk to him until he met his neighbor, Laurel. She wasn't looking for any relationships either but their attraction is there. They have a deeper understanding of each other that they can't explain. Even though this isn't what they are looking for, this might be exactly what they need in their lives right now.

This story hit harder than expected. I think that was due to knowing and being relating to so many military also knowing a few people with suicidal tendencies. It was comforting to see the two of them connect on different levels and give each other that support they didn't realize they needed.
