The Death of Ivan Ilyich
by Leo Tolstoy
*3 STARS*
while the symbolism and satirization are probably the only highlights of this novella that I actually enjoyed, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. tolstoy's writing is plenty engaging, but I just couldn't connect with characters nor the intertwining styles of romanticism, realism and naturalism nor the infuriatingly long passages about home decor.
*NOTE: read for my IB HL English Literature course*
