Homer's Odyssey by Gwen Cooper
4.0
What is it about animals that make you cry when you read their stories? Homer was a kitten no one seemed to want, mainly because of his eyes, or lackthereof. Until Cooper was called by her vet and decided to take him in, despite her initial misgivings about adding a third cat to her household.
This book details her life with him over the span of twelve years. How he learned to adapt to his environment even with blindness and be as adept as the other cats in the household. Survived moves and plane flights, 9/11 and other misfortunes.
With animal memoirs it's hit or miss sometimes. I'm endlessly intrigued by my own animals, but recognize others might not find them as enthralling. Thankfully this book is one of the good ones, and was easy to follow along with and melt with Homer's antics.
