The Distance of the Moon by Italo Calvino

While the language is well used here, it's still hard to praise this book. Each story is taken as from a jumping off point of astrophysics, and trying to describe how beings might exist in this space, with the problems the known changes would force.

The problem is, the changes are so large, and the character time so short, that is very hard to get a grip on how you should feel, let alone to appreciate how it was done.

That being said, the first story is worth the cover price in this. If you've read it elsewhere though, I wouldn't bother with this
