Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

I thought this book was good. It had a fun storyline and was an easy quick read. A lot of people in class thought that the book was fluffy, while yes there were parts that were a bit fluffy, I wouldn't say the whole book is fluffy. There was some depth and real emotion behind the pages. The main character is a little slow but once she figures out what she is trying to say, she really is smart. The book had a cute little romance but it was clearly not the point or focus of the book. I think that when books are focused just around a romance, there is a problem. While romance is great I don't think it should ever be the focus of a book. In Dairy Queen the book is about DJ coming of age and the romance is just a side show. I loved that and I really did enjoy this book.

Violence: 1- There really was no violence in the book. They played football so they tackled each other but basically that was the peak of violence.

Sex: 2- There really isn't any sexy scenes either. There is a light kiss and her friend is confused about her sexuality but that's really it.

Drugs/Alcohol: 2-They do drink a few times however they do not get drunk and it's really casual drinking.

Language: 2- Minor swear words throughout the book. Nothing to get your panties in a bunch about.
