City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

5.0

“Freely we serve. Because we freely love, as in our will to love or not; in this we stand or fall.”
I can't believe I finally finished the series . This book was so overwhelming , heartbreaking and beautiful , breathtaking and soo intense . It kept me on the edge of my seat , it has exceeded my expectations and of course it's by far my favorite book in TMI series. The good thing is , when comparing the beginning of city of bones and the ending of city of heavenly fire , it's kind of the same , after 6 books we went back to how things were at the beginning only everyone is happier maybe.
SpoilerWell first of all ,let me talk about Simon ,as a secondary character ( kind of ) he lived through many risks and he almost died maaaany times : he got turned into a rat , then turned into a vampire , got kidnapped by valentine , was used in a sacrifice , got stuck in a forsaken attack , went to Alicante where he wasn't welcomed annd was put in jail , then he got the mark of Cain , sacrificed himself to Rafael , got stabbed and shot , got trapped in the pentagram with Azazel ( I thought he will die there) , almost killed himself by summoning Raziel , got kidnapped by Maureen and finally He lost all his memories and forgot all his friends all his loved one THAT WAS WAY TOO CRUEL I shed too many tears when Izzy and Clary were talking about how they missed him . It would been better if he were dead buut of course they found a solution in the end and all was great .
The whole book made more emotional but certain things made me cry the most , I already mentioned Simon , then we have brother Zachariah . It's just anytime something is mentioned from the infernal devices trilogy my heart twists : Jassamine protecting London Institute that was unexpected and I loved her so much even if she as such a bitch.
"Almost those who raise us are not our blood"
"once more a herondale is the bringer of my deliverance. I should have anticipated .

Well yeah I should have anticipated it myself . Btw did you have to describe his faded parabatai rune ? of course you had to remind me of Will and him being dead .
I don't know if it's only me , but Cassandra Clare makes me adore hating her villain characters to the point of caring about them a little , they are fascinating in so many ways . Although , when Valentine and Sebastian died in city of Glass I did not really care it was something expected , it needed to happen and I was concentrating too much on Jace to care about the others but throughout city of fallen angels ,city of lost souls and city of heavenly fire Sebastian had grown on me , and even though I knew deep in my heart he was going to die and that made me sad . I know he is pure evilness but I hoped that some part of him was still human , specially when Cassandra describes him flinching or feeling betrayal or jealousy or any kind of human emotions but then we had the scene where Clary stabs him and Jonathan rises from his ashes , well he does not really rise but we have Jonathan giving I'm sorry speech and Jocelyn holding him and I just couldn't hold it anymore . I had a soft spot for him , he wanted to be loved by his mother , his siter and i hoped he would survive the heavenly fire , I hoped maybe that dream of hers will become true , maybe her real brother isn't that bad . But no he died and I cried .
“I've never felt so... light.”
"Because I love you"
Going back to those dreams each one of the five had when they stepped in Edom . Well I was so confused in Clary's dream . Sebastian seemed so innocent and pure and he had this brotherly affection and they had this little sister( I thought she was their child haha ) everything was perfect she was to be wed to Jace . We also saw izzy and simon's dreams. and then Alec .Oh god it was sad . I expected seeing Magnus in his dream but He wanted his father to be proud of him for being an excellent soldier , he doesn't want him to be ashamed of him .And we can all agree that throughout the whole series Alec changed a lot he used to abide the rules and only the rules , he was so conserved and specially in this book he got out of his shell . aaakufhoihefeho this book was just fool of feelings .

I am soo excited to read Lady midnight ,Emma seems like a very stubborn strong girl and I have this feeling it's going to be amazing to watch her with her parabatai Jules facing some problems.
With all being said , this book was worth the boredom I encountered in the first halves of City of fallen angels and City of lost souls. The end is so satisfying and .. Perfect.
