In comparison to the last read by David Sodergren, it's refreshing to see that The Harr has heart due to the character of Muriel and her relationship with Avalon/Billy in how that creature imitates the past. It is an imitation that brings up the idea of dealing with loss and grieving over what can't be changed despite how the resolution makes an off-putting exit for the strange couple. This story comes with the cliche of fighting against the evil corporation while standing your ground on what matters most to you. However, reading about how those adversaries are melted and eaten away in such a gory fashion is entertaining in a B-movie fashion.

The most disturbing kills of the novel have to be three-way between the construction workers' turns into a three-course meal for Avalon/Billy. It's pretty disgusting to see how the creature eats from both of her emerging orifices while disguised as a younger Muriel to attract its prey.
