The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum
5.0

Originally published in 1980, this is THE book that I read in my early 20s that started my faithful love of the suspense genre. There are now 18 books in the series. After reading the first three, a new author took over and I abandoned the series. My loss.

Am starting again with 'mature' eyes and find that The Bourne Identity is still one very good book. Was afraid that the world of the Internet and technology might leave this story sadly behind, but it really does not. Yes, a cell phone might have helped certain situations.

This is so fast paced. It's lengthier at 600 pages, but there is a major scene in every single chapter. Easy to see why the film industry was able to turn this into a very successful movie series as well.

Robert Ludlum was a great writer. A complicated plot, a bad guy you will root for, and a hint of romance as well. A real page-turner.
