Very Confused.
I am so very torn, the question of the book vs the movies for me after reading this is very difficult.
In the book it seems a lot more based on Vito Corleone rather then Michael, a lot of what is attributed to Micheal in the movies is given away to Sonny and Vito which I dont know how I feel about at all. There is more of the back story of Vito in the book but I have read a book called the family Corleone that I feel handles that a lot better now.
The negatives I do have about the book compared to the movie is the very crude sexual stuff mainly based on Lucy which I just find very odd and out of place in the godfather. Also the story of Jonny Fontain being fleshed out I find a bit distracting too.
Lastly which I dont know how true this statement is but it seems a lot like Mario Puzo wrote his male characters (due to his beliefs and opinions or not) to be very mysogynistic which I dont like to that degree.
So overall I am just sat here confused.
