Wicked Mohawk Valley by Dennis Webster

4.0

I actually really enjoyed this fascinating history of criminals, crimes, and executions in the MV. Most of it was news to me, and the chapter on Hatch of the potato hill murder was way better than the entire book about the subject that I had read years ago. Webster has a way with words that make me chuckle sometimes, like in the chapter about the brothel above the pancake house: “the menu served hot buttery flapjacks, and upstairs, a breakfast of the flesh” and mention of the “special desserts.” Ha! Entertaining and educational stories about crime and punishment in places I call home.
