Beautiful illustrations, reminiscent of a slightly spooky children's book. Does a good job of building up an eerie atmosphere and seeding the first pieces of a mystery. The main characters are immediately lovable. I'd read the rest if I had easy access, but multi-volume manga aren't really my jam lately due to the difficulty of getting hold of all the books without buying a mountain of paper. Wish it was a shorter story in one tankōbon instead.
Graphic: Death, Violence
Moderate: Xenophobia, Blood, Abandonment, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Body horror
