Overall, it is an oversimplification that gender could be reducible to the material body. The intricate, heterogeneous, diachronic and value-laden nature of gender denotes that it is mutable, fluid and context-sensitive. Gender is across, between and beyond an innate binary system. The perception of gender and sexuality should be depathologised; gender identity, be it transgender, genderqueer, cisgender or agender; gender expression, be it masculine, feminine, or androgynous, or changes over time, should all be encouraged and accepted. Individuals should have the basic rights to choose their own gender identity.
