When teachers complain to me that their students read graphic novels, I get upset. It’s books like this that make me support them for students. This is a sweet story about a girl growing up with a hearing impairment (a result of an illness—she started life hearing). The voice in this story is so strong, and you get a feel for her frustrations, fears, and worries. Not many students will read autobiographies; here’s a very accessible one for middle grade readers.
