The Other by Thomas Tryon

5.0

Even though I guessed the plot early on, I still loved this novel and the masterful way it’s executed. While maybe the trope is a little played out now, you’ll never find anyone who does it as well as Tryon. This is a horror story set in the warm glow of a childhood enveloped in a loving, magical household. It sounds like an oxymoron, perhaps, but the dichotomy only deepens the horror.
