A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin
5.0
Wow. I need the fourth one now...& the fifth.
I should wait to do this review, but I wont.
These are my initial reactions after finishing:
SPOILERS
I'm incredibly upset over Robb's death, though Joffrey's afterward made me a lot happier. I didn't care much at all for Catelyn, her viewpoint kind of annoyed me, so I don't know what to make of that epilogue. Arya and Tyrion's chapters are still some of my favorites. Sansa's are a lot more interesting now that she's in company with Petyr, I think he should have his own viewpoint because he's such a dynamic character. But I suppose we'd know too much about what he's up to then. I love that Jon is gaining something and moving forward instead of just chilling on the wall. I've officially gone the path of hating Jamie, to rooting for him with all of my being. I also appreciated Bran's chapters though they stopped toward the end, they weren't particularly action packed, but still some of my favorites such as the moment when his and Jon's chapter kind of cross paths. Daenery's chapters, for some reason, always start out slow for me but then pick up. Probably because she's far removed from the rest of the storyline most of the time so I'm reluctant to want to divulge into her side of things. Though I like the reveals with Jorah and Barristan, I don't think the slave cities are that interesting. I wish she'd just move her damn fleet to Westeros already.
Overall, this might be my favorite of the series so far, if not, then tied with the first. I realized the show stops about halfway through the story, so I'm excited for the next season as well.
