I really was taken on a ride with this one. I will say, I still do have a lot of questions... I guess we're supposed to assume after that epilogue that the Thrashers really were being haunted but like... I still really want an in-depth explanation as to why. Was Emily really that obsessed with Jodi? Was she really trying to kill them all so that she could have Jodi to herself even from beyond the grave?! And how are we not talking about how this has happened before?!?! The girl was mentally unwell. And so was her sister by the way. She may have been traumatized but she's not exonerated from her part in this mess.
I digress. Soto did a phenomenal job of writing a friend group that is inherently kind of awful but somehow you can't help but love them?? Except for Zach. If that man has no haters then I'm dead. He literally leads on every girl he meets and gets drunk off attention. It's a good thing Julian stepped up and showed Jodi what she was missing because Zach is not it at all.
All in all, if you're looking for something a little reminiscent of PLL, I think this is the perfect read. It's dark, it's twisty, there's a dash of romance and it will leave you begging for a sequel even though you know logically that it doesn't make the most sense. BUT JUSTICE FOR JODI AND JULIAN!!! I needed a bonus epilogue with AGGTM ending vibes.
