This is so funny! Unfair to the book but I feel like the bits that aren't overdone in adaptation are my favourite just because I can't recite them word for word already. Part of my high rating is that granddad used to recite the Walrus and the Caroenter to me before bed. Such a lot of clever language, parody and metafiction yet not pretentious at all - instead rather proud to be silly! I loved the poetry and illustrations. No wonder it's such an influence on art of the 20th/21st century! It could easily be another Wizard of Oz - child responds to random events - but the way that Alice constantly argues back with logic creates enough conflict and a kind of dreamlike logic.
