Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

This is the first Brandon Sanderson book I've read, and I picked this one up since it's said to be standalone. While it didn't end on a major cliffhanger... WTF? I need more. Now.

World-building is perfection. The magic system is intricately woven throughout the story, learning more as you progress through the pages. I loved the intrinsicness of the essence of breath and BioChroma. Awakeners. Returned.

The characters all exceptionally fleshed out. From gods to beggers. Princesses to kings. To the dead and those returned.

The sheer amount of plot twists that I never saw coming.

The story dragged a bit in the middle–nothing boring and only noticeable by the contrast to the last few chapters, which had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation, laughing, crying, and brows raising in surprise.

I can't wait for the next book in this series and am excited to pick up more from Brandon Sanderson!
