Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz
5.0

I love the cover of Witches of East Ends. I love the multicoloredness of the eye and the fact that all the colors give the cover an otherworldly feel to it.

This novel was completely different than anything I've ever read before it. The story behind the three witches was complex and intricate and enticing. Even while not liking the characters I fell in love with the story and just couldn't put it down.

The story centers around the three Beauchamp witches who aren't allowed to use magic. However, after Freya finally uses hers at work without repercussions the rest of the family begins to use their as well. Meanwhile, many mysterious things start happening around the island and the witches know they need to find out what's going on before their small town in the middle of nowhere starts pointing the finger at them. What the women don't know is that what's going on may very well have to do with them after all.

The beginning of the book started off super slow for me. I knew that was bound to happen going in that I would be confused so I didn't worry. But then I totally hated one of the main characters Freya. I thought she was a total hootchie mama, from literally the first chapter. That view of her didn't really change until the end of the book. Ingrid was more or less a total drag to me. Throughout the book I was like Ingrid you need to party it up or something. Lastly there was Joanna, who was a great character for a mom. Kind of shallow about her baby weight still being present after a zillion years.
As always the men in this story were drop dead sexy!!! Which of course is not surprising from amazing author Melissa de la Cruz.
When I finally finished I was presently surprised. At first it was kind of a slow read and I wasn't quite sure I would like it, but I would go along anyway because Melissa de la Cruz has never let me down before. In the end I loved it almost as much as Blue Bloods. I can not decide which sister I liked best or if in the end it was ther mother. However, the ending caught me by surprise and has me begging for more.

"Already someone had reported a UFO sighting in the area after she had taken off to the skies the other day- Joanna hadn't been as careful with the cloud cover as she thought. UFOs indeed! She had not gained that much weight, had she?"
