Batman: Three Jokers
by Geoff Johns
Sooooo close to 5 stars for me. It's almost perfect. Some of the fit into the original canon was just too muddy. It came soooo close to fitting right in like a missing puzzle piece.
So putting that aside, Three Jokers, ok, three heroes they screwed with. There's a reason why Geoff Johns is Geoff Johns, and this is it - it's 99% seamless. The panels that look like flashbacks actually knocked the wind out of me as I read. Ok, I've got a soft spot for Jason Todd. But I'm not a huge Batgirl fan and her scenes hit me hard, too.
Joe Chill's arc here feels right. And Joker's motivation for using him also feels right. Fabok's and Anderson's art, especially faces and eyes, is extraordinary here. It's just resonant, start to finish. If someone in DC would just admit it's not canon I'd probably bump it up to five stars.
