Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life by Emily Nagoski

funny informative slow-paced

4.5

I really enjoyed this. The book is specifically targeted at cisgender women who want to be sexually active with a partner, and the author is very clear about that in the introduction. I think that's important to keep in mind because the book intentionally is not talking much about men's sexuality, trans sexuality, or being asexual. The tone is approachable/casual; this is a pop science book, not university press research. It talks a lot about how mental state and emotions influence sex and multiple times each chapter I would text a friend ranting about how rude it was being, by which I meant "this is exactly what I have personally been experiencing and I feel extremely seen and angry about it." In that sense, it was the perfect book for me at this time in my life.
