The Secrets We Kept
by Lara Prescott
Overall, I really liked it, and I was even more impressed to find out how much of it was true after I finished.
However, the format was extremely confusing. While I found the different storylines interesting in the first five-ish chapters, I was never sure who was narrating it and how they were all connected. They felt completely disjointed until about halfway through the book. At one point, I even thought Irana was Ira’s story later in life...definitely not true but so confusing.
If she just would’ve named the chapters with the narrator’s name, that would’ve gone a long ways. There were maybe 6 throughout the book? That’s a lot. Instead, it was all cutesy and confusing. One narrator was even a “we” which I also found to be confusing.
