The Playboy
by Marni Mann
4 Tiny Dancer Stars
Damn, Macon Spade! Not only is this man smart and sexy in his business persona but he is also hot, intense and naughty when he's with the beautiful, smart, sexy and fierce, Brooklyn Bray. Their chemistry is so combustive that made me yearn for more of these two.
The book has the usual plot of a billionaire playboy meeting a woman who brings him to his knees to have her but with a touch of Maid in Manhattan. I also enjoyed Macon's pursuit of Brooklyn at the beginning and loved how his fixation with Brooklyn changed from his skirt-chaser lifestyle to a dedicated and committed lover. The cameos from the characters of the Dalton Series were also a delight, as well as the introduction of the rest of the Spade brothers.
If you're into possessive, obsessive billionaires with a bit of angst, you can give this book a try. I think it's a good one to kick off the Spade Hotel series.
"...I'd never thought I'd be the man who fell first. I'd never thought I'd be the guy waiting for the woman to express her feelings first after I'd already voiced mine. But here I was; I had no shame or regret. I didn't give a fuck how much shit my friends and brothers gave me about stalking the club or being obsessed with her or pointing out that I was pussy-whipped. They were right. I was. Because Brooklyn was worth it. She was everything I'd never known I wanted." - Macon Spade
