Not my usual genre but I pushed through as this was a book club pick. Unfortunately, I really didn't enjoy this one. The main character, Mariana, is supposed to be a good psychologist and intelligent woman, but I didn't feel like any of this came through in the book. She made frequent bad decisions and didn't see things that were very obvious to the reader,
such as that Zoe had been a part of the Maidens from the start.
. Also, the fact that she trusted Fred, some random guy she met on the train who was obsessed with her from the get go, was just bizarre. I guess the author wanted to give her a third party to talk to about the case
and throw in some misdirection at the end of who the killer was
? It just didn't seem the smartest choice for Mariana given that there is a murderer on the loose!

I'm still not sure I fully get the ending and the motive for all of it. Felt like it came very out of left field, without any crumbs to link back throughout the story. Between this and the fact that there was not a single likeable character in this made this a tough read for me.
