You know, sometimes in life, unexpected things come into your life when you need them most, and for me, that was Hadestown. If you know me, Greek mythology has been a staple since I was young, and while it’s now spread to all kinds of mythology, Greek mythos will always have a special place in my heart, especially when someone freshens up the mythology. Anaïs Mitchell has created a nostalgic but fresh feeling to Orpheus and Eurydice’s tale.
I already loved Hadestown just listening to the soundtrack, but this book has brought a new apprecation to not only this musical but all stage productions. So much love, labor, and tears go into productions, and it was obvious how much care was put into everything down to the verbiage for each character to make them unique.
One day, I WILL see Hadestown live!!!!!!
