The Every by Dave Eggers

I enjoyed this book in the same way someone might enjoy a horror movie. That is to say, it was fun to interact with, but I was horrified the whole time. If this is a horror movie, though, it's a funny one- at once it manages to be incredible, terrifying social commentary and an absurdist take on modern social media usage and the domination of trillion-dollar corporations. The book includes a lot of references to real-life events and social media sites without seeming too overly grounded in our current reality. It's a long read, but a really good one- just try not to sink too deep into its connections to our current world unless you want to feel hopeless about the way the world is going.
