Great novel, possibly Morrison’s best work. Great structural choices and use of devices, especially repetition, throughout. Excellent narration. Very insightful, emotionally heavy and important story. The supernatural elements fit seamlessly into the story and work to represent the great grief and guilt Sethe carries with her. The novel offers an important commentary on the great evil of slavery and the experiences of those who lived it and escaped. Characters had depth and moving stories. One of the best books I’ve ever read.
