I didn't love this book. But it's an important story and it definitely had an impact.
I guess the biggest thing it did was make me challenge some of my preconceptions, but it also made me wonder about whether this was the experience of many, or just a few. The characters were real, flawed and their stories were sad, hopeful and challenging.
Worth reading when you want something gritty, real, and hopeful despite all of the sh!t.
