Seven Devils by Elizabeth May, L.R. Lam

3.0

This book features an all female group of rebels forced into heist jobs spanning the galaxy.

While I liked the outline of the story, the implementation felt removed and the characters leaned on cliche. Aspects of setting, government, characters, etc reminded me of other stories, rather than becoming its own independent thing. Generally the characters were thin and the universe felt like a backdrop rather than a fully fleshed out world. I am not normally a predictor of plot and I guessed the ending within the first few chapters - the setup was too similar to other stories.

I might read the second in the duology in hopes that the world is more vivid, but the characters and the story are not pulling me back.
