I was hoping that by the title I would get a little bit of familiaodue to my favorite film 'While You Were Sleeping' and I'm happy to report that I did get a nod to the film but Rai definitely made her own story.

The book is in the first person perspective which I haven't read in a while but it works here as we get to experience the book through Sonia's POV so her inner monologue is key for the book. She is full of that dread, optimism, yearning, fear, stress, want, and ache that I remember from my teen and you g adult years and it plays well into the story here as Sonia saves her crush's life but keeps her identity a secret for reasons that only she knows.

I definitely will have to read another of Rai's books. Her characterizations were fantastic and believable, the world building was almost like another character with how easy I could imagine it, and the story was just so awwwwww and the dialogue.... Omg the dialogue.... Sonia and Neil have some great and witty moments that I enjoyed!
