The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

5.0

This book exceeded my expectations. This book turned me inside out. Classism, feminism, sexism, how selfish people can be to turn a blind eye to convenience themselves and the selfishness of how awful people can be just to protect themselves. This is a book that everyone should read, especially in today’s political climate. The sense of community, putting your pride aside to admit when you’re wrong and women standing together to not just help one another, but to protect each other. Just wow. And through all of that we see our FMC finally see her worth, her strength and humility and ask for a divorce. Ms Green calling out how racist the community treated her despite experiencing the same losses as their community? Hell yes. These are topics that need to be discussed more. The parallels between Southern Bookclub Guide and the world we’re in today has never been louder. At the end of the day we are all people and we all need to be there for one another. What else is there if we aren’t there for one another with trust, patience, understanding and acceptance with a strong union fighting for the change that this world so desperately needs.
